James Russell Toothman, 75, a resident of Belington, departed this life early Wednesday morning (April 24, 2013) in the Fairmont General Hospital at Fairmont.
He was born Sept. 4, 1937, at Fairmont, a son of the late Denzil and Imogene (Raikes) Toothman.
On Sept. 7, 1960, he was united in marriage to the former Tamae Tadenuma, who preceded him in death on Jan. 1, 1993.
Mr. Toothman is survived by two sons, Tom Toothman of Clarksburg and David Toothman of Fairmont; five grandchildren, Christopher Toothman of Clarksburg, Amber, Cody, Zach and Brandon Toothman, all of Fairmont; and one great-granddaughter, McKenzie Toothman of Fairmont.
He also is survived by a special friend and companion, Mary Lou Murphy; and his feline companions, Tootles and LuLu.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Carol Glasscock.
Mr. Toothman graduated East Fairmont High School in Marion County. He served in the United States Air Force, and was retired from Stroehman’s Bakery as a route deliverer.
He was a member of the Calvary Southern Baptist Church in Belington, where he served as the chairman of the Deacon Board. He was also a member of the Belington American Legion Post No. 96, where he was serving as chaplain.
Friends will be received from the Calvary Southern Baptist Church in Belington from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Final rites will be conducted at 1 p.m. from the church with the Pastor Jesse Mesa officiating. Interment will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery at Fairmont, where full military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post No, 96 of Belington.
