Robert Ciumedean Sr.

Robert Nick Ciumedean Sr., of Brandywine, Md., passed away Thursday (Oct. 3, 2013).

He was the beloved husband of Shirley Ciumedean; father of Robert “Bobby” Ciumedean Jr. and his wife Brandy Ciumedean; grandfather of Kimberlee and Robert “Bobby” Ciumedean III; and brother of Nelson Ciumedean and Helen, Betty and Karoline, and the late Irene Pauline, Georgie and Margaret Ciumedean. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Robert retired from his personal business, B&S Electrostatic Painting Co. Inc., and enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren and also being part of Southern Maryland Farmer’s Market Board in Cheltenham, Md. And let’s not forget his pets.

Relatives and friends called at Huntt Funeral Home, 3035 Old Washington Road, Waldorf, MD 20601 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today with the Rev. Paul Goodwin presiding. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, Md.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
