Harry Butcher III

Harry Lontz Butcher III, “Butch,” 67. Born in Fairmont, on Feb. 4, 1946, Butch died Oct. 3, 2013, in New Orleans, La.

After a long stint with the Coast Survey, he moved to Macon, Ga., where he combined his passion for flying and independent spirit to own and operate Metric Aerial. Recently he worked with the Federal Corps of Engineers surveying the Mississippi River.

Loquacious by nature, he never met someone he couldn’t talk to. He was a loving father, a veteran and a friend to many.

He is survived by his three children, Dustin, Logan and Andy Butcher. He is also survived by two grandsons, Myles and Greyson, and a brother, Vaughn.

His family requests friends and family celebrate his life in true Butch fashion by raising a toast in his memory at the Fish n’ Pig in Macon, Ga., from 1 to 3 p.m., Saturday.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to The American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231.
