Sarah Ruth Satterfield, 91, of Fairmont, passed from this life Sunday (Nov. 10, 2013) at Ruby Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
She was born in Morgantown on Oct. 21, 1922, a daughter of the late Edward G. and Rachel Leah Rollins Nigh.
Sarah was a Christian and a member of Grace Lutheran Church. She retired as a beautician from Winnies Beauty Shop several years ago. She enjoyed reading, sewing and especially helping others.
Mrs. Satterfield is survived by one granddaughter and three great-grandchildren; four nieces, Linda (Thomas) Stewart of Bristol, Va., Becky Prosser of Melbourne, Fla., Johanna (Gregory) Beemer of Grand Island, Fla., and Nancy (Richard) Migacz of Littleton, Colo.; and three nephews, Richard (Mary Ellen) Nigh of Melbourne, Fla., Ronald Busby of Fairmont and Tom Rexroad of Centennial, Colo.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Robert R. Satterfield, on Feb. 14, 2004; her son, David A. Satterfield; four brothers, Richard E., Galen R. and Jimmy Nigh and Harry E. Thomas; and three sisters, Bettie Jungst, Katherine Busby and Mary I. Hoult. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Friends may call at Frey Home For Funerals (Historic Chapel), 320 Madison St., Fairmont, from 5-7 p.m. today. She will lie in repose at Grace Lutheran Church from 10-10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Services will be held in the church at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday with Pastor Matt Holbert officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
