Barry Wayne Parks, 68, of Fairmont, passed away Saturday (March 1, 2014) in Harrison County.
He was born in Fairmont on June 10, 1945, a son of Edgar F. Parks of Fairmont and the late Lexie Jean (Pitman) Parks.
Barry was a well-known West Virginia businessman and co-owner of Parks, Foster and Morris CPA firm in Fairmont. He was a member of Trinity Assembly of God, where he served as treasurer; a member of the Fairmont Municipal Airport Board of Directors, where he served as treasurer; a member of the Pilot’s Association and a board member of Edgewater Arms Condo Association in Florida. He enjoyed playing golf, flying his airplane, and watching his grandchildren grow up and play sports.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Ellen Jane (Akers) Parks of Fairmont; one daughter, Lee Ann Vincent and her husband Joshua of Fairmont; and two grandchildren, Kylee Linger and Keaton Linger of Fairmont.
Also surviving are his sister, Paulette Morris and her husband Robert; three nieces, Erin Collins, Heidi Burgess and Kayla Morris; his mother-in-law, Clara Lee Akers of Enterprise; and his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Sherry and Bob Strait of Shinnston; Susan Russell of West Palm Beach, Fla.; Randall and Jeannie Akers of Enterprise; and James and Sandy Akers of Enterprise.
In keeping with the wishes of the deceased, his body will be cremated.
The family will receive friends at Trinity Assembly of God Church from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Assembly of God Church, 70 Maranatha Drive, Fairmont, at 11 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Ray Crabtree officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Trinity Assembly of God, Children’s Camp Fund, 70 Maranatha Drive, Fairmont, WV 26554.
