Jack Christopher Cotrel, 41, of Kingsport, Tenn., passed away Sunday (March 2, 2014) at his residence.
Mr. Cotrel was born in Goldsboro, N.C., a son of Jack and Jane Whitlock Cotrel of Jonesborough, Tenn.
He was a member of Jonesborough United Methodist Church.
Mr. Cotrel was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served two deployments aboard the USS Casimir Pulaski SSBN-633.
He loved camping, fishing and canoeing.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jack and Marie Cotrel.
In addition to his parents, survivors include a son, James Richard “Ricky” Cotrel Stanley of Brideport, Vt.; maternal grandparents, James and Ruth Whitlock of Newport, Tenn.; one brother, Jamie Cotrel of Jonesborough; aunt and uncle, Tim and Tammy Whitlock of Jonesborough; constant companion for five years, Nicki Robinson of Kingsport; and special friend, Travis Williams of Johnson City.
Memorial services will be conducted at 6 p.m. Thursday at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Christi Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30-6 p.m. Thursday prior to the service. Family and friends will meet at Fairview United Methodist Church for a meal immediately following the service.
