George Minter Dennison, 65, of Canyon Road, Morgantown, passed away Monday (March 3, 2014).
He was born Jan. 31, 1949, in Clarksburg, a son of the late Minter Sanford and Nora H. Swisher Dennison.
George was employed as the grounds maintenance supervisor at the Greer Mansion. He previously worked at the Bridgeport Country Club and then served as the Pines Country Club golf course superintendent for five years. George was an avid golfer and could always be found playing golf at Mountaineer Golf Course or Paradise Lake Golf Course.
George is survived by his wife, Paula D. Shaffer Dennison; one daughter, Julie Paige Dennison of Morgantown; one son, Corey Wayne Dennison of Morgantown; one sister, Cherryl Anne Dennison Prickett and husband Duane of Morgantown; nieces and nephews, Jessica Mayle and husband Elliott, Justin Prickett and wife Emily, and Janine Prickett; two great-nieces, Angelina Mayle and Ava Prickett; and his canine companion, Sunnie.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his daughter, Charla Kay Dennison.
Friends may call at McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, Morgantown, from 1-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at McCulla Funeral Home with the Rev. Kevin Cain officiating. Cremation services will be provided and interment will be at Beverly Hills Cemetery at a later date.
