Clinton Noel “Coupe” Russell, 90, of Fairmont, passed away late Wednesday evening in the Greenery Specialty Care Center in Canonsburg, Pa.
He was born March 17, 1923, in Marion County, son of the late Roland and Verna Boord Russell.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Regina Marie Russell, who died in 2009.
Mr. Russell was a graduate of Farmington High School. He also graduated from West Virginia University in electrical engineering.
Mr. Russell served in WWII, serving in the U.S. Navy with three years of service. He was stationed in the South Pacific.
Mr. Russell retired from Westinghouse Corp. of Fairmont as an electrical engineer. He was a member of the American Legion Post 17. He was an avid sports fan, following West Virginia University athletics and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Survivors include his son and his wife, John and Gilda Russell of Canonsburg, Pa.; three grandchildren, Shelley and her husband Gary Ryan of Canonsburg, Pa., Jonathan and his wife Anna Russell of Bunker Hill, and Adam Russell of Canonsburg, Pa.; six great-grandchildren, Connor, Dominic, and Joey Ryan, Christopher, Brianna and Alexander Russell; and a close friend, Sarah Davis of Fairmont.
He was preceded in death by a son, Warren Ernest Russell; five brothers, Duane, Donald, Warren, Edward and Clifford Russell; and one sister, Eleanor Maset.
Friends may call at Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. A funeral committal service will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, Fairmont, at noon, with Rev. Johnna Mansuetto officiating.
