Adam Rohrig Jr.

Adam C. Rohrig Jr., 70, of Bridgeport, passed away Wednesday afternoon (Oct. 9, 2013) in Philippi.

He was born in Charleston on Oct. 24, 1942, a son of the late Adam C. Rohrig Sr. and Molly F. Lackey Rohrig.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Linda Kay Bingamon Rohrig.

Also surviving are three sons, Adam C. Rohrig III and his wife Nikki, Abingdon, Va., Joshua Rohrig and his wife Paige, Atlanta, Ga., and Nathaniel Rohrig and his wife Beth, Bridgeport; four grandchildren, Zachary, Lucas, Sophie and Gavin Rohrig; a stepson, Jay Gobel and his girlfriend Shanna Nelson, Parkersburg; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Lynda Thomas, and also preceded in death by his wife of 28 years, Sally Grady Rohrig.

Adam was a graduate of West Virginia University, and was a pharmaceutical representative with UPJOHN for over 31 years. He was a business owner of R&T Enterprises, The Water Shop, and Cover All Buildings of West Virginia.

Mr. Rohrig was Methodist by faith, and he enjoyed spending time with his family and entertaining his friends at his farm in Parsons. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and WVU sports. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and his dogs, Abby and Duke. Adam never met a stranger and enjoyed talking to people.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Harrison County, Rt. 2, Box 932, Shinnston, WV 26431.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Ave., Bridgeport, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today. Services will also be held at the Burnside Funeral Home at 1 p.m. on Saturday, with Rev. Jim Lang presiding.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
