— Shelley Joan Zicafoose, 50, a resident of Battle Creek, Mich., passed from this life in the early morning hours of Wednesday (Oct. 16, 2013) in her home.

Shelley was born Monday, Feb. 25, 1963, in Clarksburg.  

She is survived by her only child, Jason Kapnicky of Rivesville and his daughter Lola; her mother, Nancy Sickles of Bridgeport; and her father, Fred Zicafoose of Morgantown.  

Others left to cherish her memory are her stepfather, Melvin “Junior” Sickles of Mannington; and her five siblings, brother Michael Zicafoose and his wife Debra Benedict of Fairmont, sister Virginia Gallion of Bridgeport, sister Mary Mabry and her husband Mike Mabry of Fairmont, brother Steven Zicafoose and his fiancée Nita Lerma of Ontario, Calif., and brother Joseph Zicafoose of Riverside, Calif.  

Shelley also will be missed by her three nephews, Matthew Zicafoose of Fairmont, Mikie Zicafoose and his wife Stacey of Barrackville, and Joshua Barron of Mannington, and her niece, Jordan Bendzala-Zicafoose of San Bernadino, Calif., as well as many other aunts, uncles and cousins and friends.

Shelley was a 1981 graduate of Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Va. After high school graduation, Shelley resided in Fairmont, where she then attended OIC Training Academy and received her CNA certification. She worked at The Arbors nursing home in Fairmont, then as a private care CNA.

Shelley was a longtime resident of Fairmont and Mannington before recently moving to Battle Creek. She enjoyed music, needlework and camping, as well as spending time with her son and family.

Shelley’s request for cremation was honored. A memorial gathering will be held from 4-5:30 p.m. Monday at Faith Church International at 600 The Drive, Fairmont, WV 26554.  

Royal Funeral Home in Battle Creek, Mich., was entrusted with the arrangements for Shelley Joan Zicafoose.
