Richard W. Lee, 93, of Fairmont, passed away at his home on Tuesday (Oct. 29, 2013).
Richard was born in Glade, Pa., on Aug. 24, 1920, to the late Abraham and Lyda Moore Lee.
Richard was a veteran of the United States Navy and proudly served his country during World War II. He was an alumnus of West Virginia University and a member of VFW Post 7048. He was a retired mining engineer who worked for Consol and Globe Brick, and was a member of the Central United Methodist Church.
Richard is survived by his two daughters, Margaret “Peggy” Werkheiser and husband Larry of Buckhannon, and Linden Turnquist of Aurora, Colo.; one son, Richard “Randy” Lee and wife Barbara of Cool Ridge; son-in-law, Thomas Ellison; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his wife, June W. Lee; his daughter, Katharine Ellison; brother, Harold Lee; sister, Martha Poland; and one grandson.
Friends may call at McCulla Funeral Home from 10 a.m. Saturday until the 11 a.m. funeral service with Rev. Hal J. Hevener officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery with full military honors conferred by Westover VFW No. 9916 and The Navy Honor Guard.
