— Betty Lou Hefflin Efaw, 73, of Fairmont, passed away Thursday (Oct. 31, 2013) at the Pleasant Acres Assisted Christian Haven in Fairmont.

She was born March 20, 1940, in Clarksburg, a daughter of the late Hilbert C. and Sarah Muriel Tinney Hefflin. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Marion “Buck” Robert Efaw.

Mrs. Efaw was a 1958 graduate of Barrackville High School and a longtime member of Central United Methodist Church in Fairmont. Betty Lou was a homemaker in her own home. She had been very active with her church, having served with the “kitchen committee” and the Esther Ladies Circle. She previously had enjoyed league bowling with her husband in the Fairmont area.

Above all, she was dedicated to being a mother and grandmother to her family. She enjoyed being an active part in the raising of her grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter, April and her husband Ron Cremeans of Fairmont; son, Michael and his wife Valerie Efaw of Fairmont; grandchildren, Megan and Daniel Cremeans, Kathryn Musgrove, Michael, Samantha and Constance Efaw, all of Fairmont, and Marion R. Efaw II of Bruceton Mills; brothers, Arliss and his wife Connie Hefflin of Ocean City, Md., Ralph and his wife Beverly Hefflin of California, and Hilbert and his wife Beverly Hefflin Jr. of Jacksonburg; a great-grandson, Andrew Musgrove; sister, Mildred “Millie” Conrad of Sistersville; several nieces and nephews; and a close friend, Leah Powell.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Marion R. Efaw Jr., and her sisters, Margie Goshhorn, Nina Netzel and Ann Lowe.

Memorial donations may be made to either Central United Methodist Church, Fairmont Avenue, Fairmont, WV 26554, or the Pleasant Acres Christian Haven, 41 Pleasant Acre Drive, Fairmont, WV 26554.

Friends and family may call Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Chapel, 1410 Country Club Road, Fairmont, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday. Mrs. Efaw will lie in state at Central United Methodist Church, Fairmont Avenue, Fairmont, from 10-11 a.m. Monday. The funeral will be held in the church at 11 a.m. Monday with Rev. Hal Hevener and Rev. Richard Bowyer officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Fairmont.
