Pauline Snyder

Pauline Yost Prendergast Snyder went to be with the Lord on Oct. 16, 2013, at the age of 97.

She was born in Wetzel County, the daughter of the late Jeff and Audrey Yost.

She graduated from Littleton High School at the top of her class. Pauline’s favorite pastimes were reading, baseball, fishing and being with family. In 1938, she married Murray J. Prendergast, and moved to Wheeling, and subsequently across the Ohio River to Martins Ferry, Ohio, where they raised their children.

Several years after the death of Murray, she married Allen Snyder, who also predeceased her. Her brothers, Jack, Cliff and Don, also preceded her in death.

After living in Mannington for several years, she moved to San Antonio, Texas, to be close to family.

Pauline is survived by her three sons, Jack (Brenda), Tom (Cecelia) and Gary (Judy), all of San Antonio, Texas. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, 118 Clarksburg St., Mannington, where memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Following the service, the family will proceed to Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery for burial with her parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mannington Public Library, 109 Clarksburg St., Mannington, WV 26582.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
