Thomas Howard Barnes, 74, of Maryland Avenue, Fairmont, passed away early Saturday morning (Nov. 16, 2013) in Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born May 13, 1939, in Fairmont, son of the late George Howard and R. Pearl Linn Barnes.
Mr. Barnes was a Protestant by faith. He was a graduate of East Fairmont High School.
He served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Barnes retired from Westinghouse-Philips Lighting in Fairmont, as a machinist attendant. He gave 35 years of service. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Barnes of Fairmont; three daughters and their husbands, Stephanie and Tom Smith of McDonough, Ga., Tomma K. Barnes of Wilmington, N.C., and Amy and Rod Lambert of Locust Grove, Ga.; four grandchildren, Andy and Jamie Smith of McDonough, Ga., and Sydney and Bailey Lambert of Locust Grove, Ga.; a sister, Nancy Turner of Lake Cormorant, Miss.; a close friend, Bob Bosley of Fairmont; and his special dog, Gracie.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Joan Shreve and Betty Boord.
Mr. Barnes has chosen cremation services. His family will greet friends at Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home Monday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Rex Musgrove officiating.
