Violet Muriale

Violet Victoria Isabella Muriale, 89, of 116 Kelly St., passed away on Aug. 22, 2013, in Farmington.

She was born in Flemington, on March 26, 1924, a daughter of Thomas Isabella and Anthenette Marra Isabella.

On June 9, 1948, she was married to Frank Muriale at St. Johns Roman Catholic Church by Monsignor John O’Riley of Clarksburg. Her husband of 49½ years passed away on Jan. 28, 1998, at the Veterans Hospital.

She is survived by her two sons, Rocco F. Muriale of Fairmont and Rick Muriale of Bridgeport. Also surviving are her granddaughter, Brittney Cooper and husband Rodney, and her great-granddaughter, Victoria Isabella.

Mrs. Muriale is also survived by the following nieces and nephews, Sam and Shirline Isabella of Bridgeport, Tom and Sue Isabella of Flemington, John and Beth Allevato of Redlands, Calif., Pat and Veronica Carter of Winchester, Mass., Fran and Daren Del Rosario of College Park, Md., Rosalie Carter of Clarksburg, Joan and Vaughn Gardner of Fork, Md., Joan and Todd Carter of St. Cloud, Minn., Thomas and Carol Isabella of Las Vegas, Nev., Philip and Renee Podesta of Clarksburg, Michael and Vicki Veltri of Clarksburg, Anthony Veltri of Portland, Ore., Rocco Sam, and Joan Muriale of Huntington, Luanna Cappicola of Clarksburg, Steven and Marie Podesta, and Celesta Schlicker.

Violet is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Thomas (Mary) Veltri and Mrs. Sam (Rose) Muriale, and brother-in-law, Sam Carvelli.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank of Dundalk, Md., John of Toledo, Ohio, Anthony of Clearwater, Fla., Patrick of Fairmont; and the following sisters, Mrs. Sam (Josephine) Isabella of Flemington, Mrs. Frank (Flora) Allevato of Fairmont, Mrs. Sonny (Rose) Bilotta of Fairmont, Mrs. Anthony (Virginia) Bilotta of College Park, Md., and Mrs. Sam (Mary) Belcastro of Shinnston.

She was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Shari Roberts Muriale; nephews, Louis Michael Carvelli, Robert Carter and James Carter; brothers-in-law, Sam R. Muriale, Anthony Podesta, Tom Veltri, Sonny Bilotta and John Allevato; sisters-in-law, Thelma Podesta and Rosaline Carvelli; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rocco and Isabella Muriale.

Violet was a graduate of Philippi High School. Along with her husband, brother and sister-in-law, they were the founders of Muriales Restaurant which was opened on June 2, 1969 in Fairmont.

She was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison St., Nutter Fort, WV on Monday from 1 to 8 p.m. A Vigil Service will be held at 4 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 126 East Pike St., Clarksburg, at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, with Father Casey Mahone as celebrant.

Interment will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
