Margie Earl

Margaret Ruth “Margie” Earl passed peacefully from this life Saturday (July 13, 2013) surrounded by her family and friends.

She was born May 15, 1930. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and Jehovah’s Witness and a member of the Fairmont Congregation for 50 years.

Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Lee “Woody” Earl, who died May 13, 1998; her parents, Lionel and Gladys McDougal; and two grandchildren, Tharron and Jill Earl.

Margie is survived by three children and their spouses, Debbie and Eugene Bates of Farmington, Randy and Kandi Earl of Core, and Dave and Barb Earl of Wadestown. Also surviving are two granddaughters, Sommer Bland of Fairmont and Sara Earl of Wadestown; and one great-granddaughter, Maylee Bland of Fairmont.

Margie is also survived by three sisters and two brothers, Mary Fletcher of Rachel, Mildred Stalnaker of Fairmont, Shirley Miller of Fairmont, James McDougal and wife Julie Ann of Rachel, and Richard McDougal and wife Donna of Rachel. Also surviving are former sister-in-law, Charlotte Coogle of Fairmont; several nieces and nephews; and a very special friend and caregiver of several years, Marie Lilly of Rachel.

The family would like to send a special thanks to Donna and Richard McDougal, and Alex McDougal for their special care.

There will be no funeral home visitation or funeral services. A memorial service will be held at a later date and time at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Margie’s name to the National Parkinson’s Foundation, Gift Processing Center, P.O. Box 5018, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5018.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
