He is survived by his son, Douglas (fiancée Kim) Gwinn of Bellview; and two daughters, Rebecca (husband Randy) Shuttlesworth and Cathie (husband Tony) Ebert, also of the Katy Community.

He is also survived by six grandchildren, Jason Parrish, Amanda Michelle and Chad McIntyre, Toni Gwinn, Casie Gwinn, Josiah and Faith Ebert, and Taylor Ebert. He also has two great-granddaughters, Ansley Ebert and Lexi Ebert, to whom he was affectionately known as “Pappy,” and his faithful dog, Joey.

He attended Monongah High School. He served in the 406th Infantry Regiment, Company G in World War II, from August 1944 until June 1946 in Central Europe (private first class). He also served in the 187th Airborne Regimental Combat in the Korean War, October 1949-52 (corporal).

He married Glenda Murray on Dec. 25, 1951, to whom he was married for 44 years, until her death in 1995. Robert worked a short time in the mining industry, and was employed at the Fairmont Box Co. for many years. After the Box Co. closed, he worked several years in his own lumber business (Gwinn Lumber).

Services will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ken Wright and Mr. Randy Shuttlesworth officiating. The family wishes to convey their thanks to friends, neighbors, family, care providers, ministers, and pastor and congregation of Willow Tree Baptist Church for countless prayers and support. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and aides of the Golden Living Center in Morgantown, and also to those at the VA Hospital for wonderful care over so many years. We love and faithfully appreciate you all! — The family of Robert L. Gwinn Sr.
