Texie Vuckovich

Texie Ruth Hardway McClung Vuckovich, 90, of Fairmont, formerly of West Newton, Pa., left this life peacefully on her journey to meet her Heavenly Father. She passed away on Wednesday (May 15, 2013) surrounded by her loving family at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown after a short illness.

She was born Aug. 6, 1922, in Braxton County, a daughter of the late Criss E. and Flossie Inez VanBuren Hardway. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank “Champ” Vuckovich, in 2000.

Mrs. Vuckovich retired from Owens-Illinois Glass Plant in Fairmont in 1976 with more than 20 years of service in the Decorating and PCM Departments. She had previously worked at the Brooks’ Grill in Fairmont. She then lived in West Newton, Pa., for more than 20 years, where she was very active with the First Church of God as well as the Senior Citizens Center. At the age of 85, she returned to Fairmont to be near family.

She attended the Highlawns United Methodist Church in Rivesville with her daughter. She loved playing board games and cards with her friends and family. She also enjoyed reading, gardening and cooking for her loved ones.

She is survived by a son, James A. “Jimmy” and his wife Phyllis McClung of LaFollette, Tenn.; a daughter, Judith and her husband Jerry Keener of Rivesville; grandchildren, Debbie and Rick Stevenski of Fairmont, and Sherry Jo and Rick Sestito of Fairmont; great-grandchildren, Rachel and Derek Nuzum, Ryan and Frankie Stevenski, and Erica Sestito, all of Fairmont; two great-great-grandchildren, Grant Nuzum and Eli Stevenski, and she was also expecting two great-great-grandchildren due this year; brothers, Delbert and his wife Glenda Hardway of Fairmont, and Paul and his wife Jo Hardway of West Newton, Pa.; sisters, Nelsie and her husband Alfred Ray of West Newton, Pa., Nina Nichols of Fairmont, and Lois and her husband Fred Fleming of Fairmont.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jerry Joseph Keener; a brother and his wife, Hobert and Mary Hardway; an infant brother, Delferd Hardway; and a brother-in-law, Alfred Nichols.

Friends and family may call the Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, on Sunday from noon until 8 p.m. and on Monday from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. The funeral will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Beth Dunlap officiating. Interment services will follow at 3 p.m. at the West Newton Cemetery, West Newton, Pa.
