Mr. Ralph Thomas Hall, age 78, of Bridgeport, loving husband and father, passed from this life on Friday (June 14, 2013) at St. Barbara’s Memorial Nursing Home, Monongah, surrounded by loved ones.
He was born Dec. 26, 1934, at the family home in Meadowbrook. He was the son of the late Layman Matthew Hall and Beulah Levina Snider Hall. He was preceded in death by his wife and love of his life, Margaret Iown Ord Hall, in March of 2010.
Ralph is survived by a daughter, Mara L. Skidmore and her husband Brent of Fairmont; grandson, Curtis Skidmore; two brothers, James Olen Hall and Okey Hall; a sister, Fonda Palmer; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a stepmother, Marjorie Hall, and three brothers, Donald Hall, Wayne Hall and Larry Hall.
He was a graduate of Shinnston High School Class of 1952. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served during the Korean Conflict.
Ralph was a member of the Amalgamated Meat Cutters Union and later was an entrepreneur. He volunteered in the community as a Little League baseball coach, Boy Scout Troup No. 40 leader and as a member of the VIPS. He was also a member of Late Lodge No. 63 A.F.&A.M in Bridgeport and Queen Esther Chapter No. 11, Order of the Eastern Star.
The family requests donations are made in Ralph’s memory to either St. Barbara’s Memorial Nursing Home, P.O. Box 9066, Monongah, WV 26554, or Hospice Care, Inc, 1406 Country Club Road, Fairmont, WV 26554.
A private service will be celebrated at a later date.
