Sam P. Napolitano, 92, of Mahwah, N.J., our beloved father aka “Big Sam,” passed away on Tuesday (June 11, 2013).
He was born in Hoboken, N.J., on April 11, 1921, son of the late Paul and Anna Lemona Napolitano.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Phillips Napolitano, who grew up in Benton’s Ferry, of Mahwah, N.J.; three children, Nancy, Paul and Sam; and four grandchildren, Paul Jr., Aaron, Caitlyn and Courtney.
Our Dad will be sorely missed, and he will always be remembered for his hard work ethic, which he instilled in all of us. He wore many hats over his life: he was a lumberjack, WWII veteran on the U.S.S. Terror, an iron worker, longshoreman, a cement mason and an amazing father. WE WILL MISS YOU DAD.
Visitation will be held today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home in Ramsey, N.J., after which Mr. Napolitano will be sent to Fairmont for a Funeral Mass which will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Watson with Fr. Steve Joseph as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Belington Fraternal Cemetery in Belington. Military honors will be conducted at the cemetery.
Local arrangements under the direction of Ross Funeral Home, 801 Fairmont Ave., Fairmont.
