Raymond Garrity, 80, of Fairmont, passed away Monday (March 10, 2014) at the Arbors of Fairmont Nursing Home in Fairmont.
He was born Jan. 22, 1934, in Rivesville, a son of the late William and Marie Swaney Garrity.
He was self-employed and owned the following bars: Crystal Lounge and the Shinns Pool Room, and worked at the Palace Billiards. Raymond also did yard work for his neighbors in College Park. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force who served with the rank of Airman 2nd Class during the Korean War. Raymond was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Fairmont and enjoyed gardening, playing pool and being outside.
Survivors are his three daughters and three sons-in-law, Jenny (Ryan) Sutphin of Fairmont, Karen (Mingo) Bolyard of Tunnelton, and Lori (Dennis) Cavender of Glen Allen, Va.; one brother and one sister-in-law, Fred (Henritta) Hawkins of Fairmont; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Agnes Delligatti and Ester (Richard) Weaver of Fairmont; seven grandchildren, Rebeccah Malson, Katherine Boylard, Joanna Bolyard, Cameron Cavender, Zachary Cavender, Reagan Cavender and Lilly Sutphin. He was also awaiting the birth of his first great-grandson. Also surviving is his former wife, Karen Garrity.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, William Garrity Jr.; and three sisters, Mary Louise Garrity, Helen Garrity Munza and Betty Garrity Freeman.
Raymond has chosen as his final method of disposition cremation. There will be no memorial services.
