Virginia Kisner

Virginia Mae Lee Kisner, 99, of Fairmont, entered into the loving arms of Jesus whom she loved dearly on April 21, 2014, at Fitzwaters Assisted Living Center.

She was born Oct. 27, 1914, in Monongah, daughter of the late Charles Edgar and Georgia Ellen Davis Lee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Denis Kisner (married on April 12, 1936, with 68 years of marriage).

Virginia was an active member of the Monongah Methodist Church during her early years and a longtime member of Central Christian Church in Fairmont. She was active in several areas of church service including the Christian Women’s Fellowship and served as deaconess for several years.

She was a 1932 graduate of Monongah High School. For a period of time she wrote the Monongah News for the Fairmont Times.

Virginia was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend with a great sense of humor and much faith. She enjoyed reading the Bible, spending time with her friends and family, singing around the piano and in the car, reciting poetry and working with her flowers. She just loved life! She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include three daughters, Margie Kisner Cain of Vinton, Va., Carol Kisner Reese and her husband Chuck of Fairmont, and Etta Lynn Kisner Slack of Morgantown; two sons, Donald R. Kisner of Fairmont, and Dennis Keith Kisner of Fairmont; sisters-in-law, Kathryn Kisner Newbrough of Fairmont, Virginia Kisner Short of Fairmont, Marie Kisner of Fairmont, Joyce Kisner Watkins of Hawaii, and Ada Kisner of Georgia; a brother-in-law, Bernard Kisner and his wife Virginia “Gid” of Fairmont; grandchildren, Kathy Cain Pentaleri of Vinton, Va., Doyle “Ti” Cain III of Vinton, Va., Chad Alan Reese and his wife Patricia of Auburn, Ala., and Craig Evan Reese and his wife Jennifer of Bowling Green, Ky.;   great-grandchildren, Merandia, Alan and Treslyn Reese, and Joshua Pentaleri; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Frankie Lee Hewitt and her husband Thomas, Genevieve Lee Marquis and her husband Otis, and Mary Lee Bennett and her husband Olis; a brother, Robert E. Lee; a son-in-law, Larry Slack; a grandson, Alan Pentaleri; and a brother-in-law, James Kisner.

Friends may call at Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, from 2 p.m. till 8 p.m. today and 11 a.m. till 1 p.m. on Saturday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home Saturday at 1 p.m., with Pastor Mark Hewitt officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery and Mausoleum in Fairmont.

Virginia’s family would like to thank Heather and Tim Fitzwater, Missy Slaughter and all of the staff at Fitzwater Assisted Living Center for showing such love and giving such wonderful care to our sweet Mom. We can never thank them enough. Also, we would like to thank Dr. Ang, Dr. Menez, Dr. Horner, Hospice Care and Amedisys Hospice Care. We would especially like to thank her niece Sharon Browning, her nephew Marl Hewitt and all who visited her and made her feel so love. May God bless you.

Sam was born on Nov. 13, 1920, in Fairmont, the son of the late Vincent and Maria (Galiano) Pellerite. He was the loving husband of the late Teresa Mae “Terry” (Cirillo) Pellerite.
