Roger Efaw

Roger William Efaw, 62, of Mannington, passed away Monday (Oct. 8, 2012) at Fairmont General Hospital.

He was born Feb. 4, 1950 in Fairmont, a son of the late Elmer Efaw and Anna Dale Toothman Short.

Roger is survived by his five children, Lori Efaw and fiancé Tom Thomas of Rachel, Monica Efaw of New Jersey, Tiffany Efaw of New Jersey, Sherry McCloskey and husband Bobby of New Jersey, and Melissa McCloskey of New Jersey; grandchildren, Amber Efaw, Brooke Vanzyl, Ryan Childs and six others; one great-grandson, Victor Rizzo; two brothers, Robert Efaw and wife Joyce of Mods Run, and Gary Lee Efaw Sr. and wife Barbara of Hundred; one sister, Louise Parker and husband Denzil of Plum Run; his companion, Nancy Menefee of Mannington; and several nieces and nephews.

Roger owned and operated Roger Efaw’s Lawn Service. He also worked for 13 years at Conway, three years at America Skylight and 10 years as a security guard for BankOne in Clarksburg. He enjoyed riding his four-wheeler, playing cards and camping.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family or the funeral home at the request of the family.

Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Mannington, from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday. A graveside service will follow at Dudley Cemetery with Pastor Gary Grant officiating.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
