Lewis Kay Vincent

Lewis Kay Vincent, 83, of Bruceton Mills, died Wednesday (July 10, 2013) at Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown.

The son of the late Wilbert and Augusta N. Garlow Vincent, he was born Sept. 16, 1929, in Fairmont.

Kay was a United States Army veteran and a member of the Carpenters Union Local 604 in Morgantown. Farming and family were his life.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, DoraEtta Lipscomp Vincent; a son and his wife, Wilbert and Marty Vincent of Fairmont; two daughters: Linda K. Vincent of Weilerbach, Germany, and Karen Babb of Norfolk, Va.; a step-granddaughter, Jamie Layton of Fairmont; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Vincent, and a sister, Irene Amos.

Family and friends may call at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills today from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service in the funeral home, with the Rev. Winfield Mayle and the Rev. Sonny McNear officiating. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
