Billy White

Billy Joe White, 67, of Monongah, passed away Friday (April 19, 2013). He was born Oct. 13, 1945, in Fairmont, son of the late William and Lucy Shaver White.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mortella (Garland) White; two children, Melinda Kay Roberts and husband James, and Salina Lynn Sherry and husband Jeff; five grandchildren, Collean Marie and fiance Aaron VanGilder, Racheal Kaylynn, and James Andrew Roberts, Lucyanna Nichole and Seth Allen Sherry; one great-grandson, Landon James VanGilder; one sister, Vonda Gale Frisenda; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six siblings, Joe White, Betty Riddle, Alberta Canavy, Holbert White, James White and Nancy Baker.

Billy served in the U.S. Navy for four years, and was employed with Industrial Resources for 37 years. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, giving them rides on the tractor. He also enjoyed working in his garage tinkering with things and working in his garden.

Family and friends may call at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave. in Fairmont, from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with Pastor John Snyder officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens with full military rights being performed at graveside by the Marion County Veteran’s Council.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
