Whitney Jeanine Powell, 27, of Burnt Cabin Road, Fairmont, passed away on Friday (April 19, 2013) in Oak Hill as a result of a car accident.
She was born Jan. 15, 1986, in Morgantown, a daughter of Kelli R. Starcher and the late Kurt Alan Powell.
Whitney was a 2004 graduate of East Fairmont High School where she was a four-year member of the Busy Bee Band and Honeybees, as well as a member of the ROTC and the Girls Athletic Association. She attended the Viola Church at Pricketts Creek.
Whitney was very artistic and creative; she enjoyed painting for friends and family. Most of all, she loved spending time with her two little girls.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her daughters, Nevaeh Marie Vincent and Taylor Dannille King; twin sister, Courtney Marie Powell of Fairmont; brother, Erik Wayne Starcher of Fairmont; nephew, Dakota Bryant Hardesty of Fairmont; maternal grandmother, Marie Ryan Starcher of Mt. Zion Road; paternal grandmother, Shirley Jean Powell of Clarksburg; close friend, Alli Riddle; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Freddie Wayne Starcher, and paternal grandfather, Ronald Powell.
Friends and family may call the Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, on Monday from noon-9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The funeral will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Scott Krepps officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery and Mausoleum in Fairmont.
