Ralph Edward Gump, Sr., 72, of Metz, passed away on Wednesday (Nov. 13, 2013) at his residence.
He was born Dec. 11, 1940, in Metz, son of the late James Victor Gump and Olive Price Gump.
Ralph is survived by three daughters, Debbie Snider and husband Mark, Kimberly Gump and Kenny Anderson, and Tammy Gump and Scott Booth; a son, Ralph “Buck” Gump Jr. and wife Kathy; his loving companion, Sandy Thomas; grandchildren, Elisha Sine, Brittany Hickman, Taylor and Madison Mercer, Rachel Smith, Ryan Manley and Kayla Manley; great-grandchildren, Cody and Landon Sine and Darin and Derek Smith. Also surviving are three sisters, Joretta Snyder, Midge Horner and Mary Stout; and five brothers, Floyd, Rob, Raymond, Paul and Bill Gump.
In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Deloris Jean Jenkins Gump; two brothers, Jackie Gump, who died in infancy, and James Victor Gump II; and two sisters, Opal Welch and Nina Gump.
Ralph was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather who always had a smile on his face, and he always made you laugh. He loved spending time with his family. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, and riding his side-by-side and enjoyed watching NASCAR and dirt-track racing.
Ralph had worked at Industrial Resources, Chisler Brothers Drilling, and Wilson and Wilson. He was a member of the Mannington Moose Lodge No. 388.
Per the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home.
Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Mannington, on Friday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. and also on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with funeral services beginning at 1 p.m. with Pastor Bill Coon officiating. Burial will follow at the Arnett Cemetery on Campbell’s Run.
