Robert Mancino

Robert “Bobby” Louis Mancino, 62, of Fairmont, went to his final resting place on Saturday (June 8, 2013) at his residence.

He was born May 5, 1951, in Fairmont, a son of the late Sam Anthony Mancino and Phyllis Marie Repep Mancino. He is survived by his fiancée of six years, Deborah Tate of Fairmont. They were to be married on June 15, 2013.

He is survived by three daughters, Shauna Jo Mancino, Gioia Mancino and Gina Mancino; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Nino L. and Carolyn Mancino of Kingmont, and Gabriele “Lenny” and Esther Mancino of the United Kingdom; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Francis Barton of Colorado, and Antoinette and Gerald Shillingburg of Keyser; three grandchildren; many nephews and nieces, especially a close nephew, Nino Mancino II; two close friends, William “Bill” Fincham and Tommy Hulderman; and friends, Sarah and C.W. Gordanier, Ronnie Rokisky, Cheryl Dudley, Mary Beth Johnson-Chapman, David Rokisky and Edita P. Milan, M.D.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph G. Mancino and Gino D. Mancino, and a sister, Martina M. Mancino.

Bobby was a former pipefitter for the Local No. 152 in Morgantown. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church of Fairmont and the Holy Spirit Catholic Church of Monongah, a 1969 graduate of East Fairmont High School, a member of the Marian Council No. 942 Knights Of Columbus and a member of the Marian Assembly No. 2114 Knights Of Columbus 4th Degree.

Fairmont has lost a local music legend with his one-of-a-kind on-stage personality and pitch-perfect vocals. Our area has lost one of its finest talents. He was the front man for Tex Landis Band and many others. Bobby supported many local charities and never knew a stranger. He always helped anyone in need.

A Memorial Mass and West Virginia-style Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends at a later time. A private committal service will be held at a later date. There will be no public visitation. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont.

Online condolences may be made to the family at www.fordfuneralhomes.com.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
