William Joseph Doby, 84, of Barrackville, passed away on Wednesday (June 12, 2013) at the Arbors at Fairmont Nursing Center.
He was born on Jan. 20, 1929, a son of the late Steven Doby and Helen Pauline Fulaytar Doby Foster. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ruth Ann Doby.
Mr. Doby worked as a construction foreman for the Bethlehem Industrial Corp. and also served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working with his son William Jr., doing construction work and also enjoyed gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Doby of Barrackville; his son, William Joseph Doby Jr. of Barrackville; his stepson, Roy Foster Jr.; his half-sister, Lorraine Rose Byrd and her husband Richard of Arizona; a niece, Kellie Ward and her husband Mike of Arizona; a nephew, Derek Kocsis and his wife Shawna; two aunts, Elizabeth Kocsis and Sylvia Fulaytar; five cousins, George Kocsis and his wife Nancy, Beverly Baird, Patricia Logan and her husband Tom, Bradley Fulaytar, and Kathy Hursey and her husband John; two schnauzers, Rocky III and Willie; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by many other family members, including his stepfather, Roy Foster; his stepsister, Ida Shaver; his grandparents, Alex and Rose Fulaytar; and three uncles.
Private funeral services will be held at a later date. Mr. Doby will be laid to rest at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Pruntytown. The family has entrusted Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St,, Fairmont, with the arrangements.
