Pauline Shafferman Wright, 88, of Millersville Community, died Wednesday (Feb. 19, 2014) at her residence.
She was born April 9, 1925, in Grafton, a daughter of the late Ernest Frederick Shafferman and Pearl Bertha Mentzer Shafferman.
She is survived by three sons and three daughters-in-law, Allen and Debra Wright of Fairmont, Kevin and Marie Wright of Fairmont, and Keith and Cathy Wright of Wheeling; nine grandchildren, Becky Poling, Jonathan Wright, Brian Wright, Jason Wright, Justin Wright, Jessica Cantrell, Courtney Watson, Carrie Wells and Jeremy Wright; 16 great-grandchildren and a 17th great-grandchild expected in late March 2014; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Ralph, Ernest “Cad,” Kenneth and Victor Shafferman; three sisters, Violet Current, Hester Hargett and Evelyn Shafferman; and James Allen Wright.
Pauline was a retired secretary from the Marion County Board of Education with 24 years of service. She served for 21 years at East Fairmont High School, and for three years at the Board of Education Central Office. She was an active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Fairmont, where Pauline was involved in the church board and Bible study and enjoyed updating the message board in front of the church. She was a 1942 graduate of Grafton High School and 1943 graduate of the West Virginia Business College.
The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, on Saturday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Randall Murphy, Pastor James Volpe and Pastor Paul Dixon officiating. The committal service will follow in the Bluemont Cemetery in Grafton.
