Mary Watts

Mary Louise Watts, 78, of Bellview, passed away Saturday morning (June 22, 2013) in her home surrounded by her loving family.

Mary was born Feb. 23, 1935, a daughter of the late Hugh and Audrey Hess. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald O. Watts.

In addition to being a homemaker, Mary worked as a factory worker at Westinghouse Corp. in Fairmont, and also worked at several area retail businesses. She attended Highland Avenue United Methodist Church and was a member of the VFW. Mary loved to go dancing and traveling, especially to Myrtle Beach.

Mary is survived by two sons, Cecil Dale Sapp and his wife Dixie, and Patrick Alan Watts; a daughter, Brenda K. Bennett; a brother, Jack Hess; a sister, Joe Fast; two grandchildren, Nicole Renae Bennett and Zachary Dale Sapp; two great-grandchildren, Courtney Cheyenne Hefner and Codey Ryan Andrick; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank Hess, Wendell Hess and Clarence Hess; and four sisters, Icelene Saffle, Lucille Clayton, Polly Fast and Marie Parker.

The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Chapel, 1410 Country Club Road, Fairmont, from 1-3 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home at noon Tuesday with the Rev. John Smith officiating.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
