Goldie Richards

Goldie Rachel Richards, of Shinnston, passed away Saturday (June 22, 2013) at Fairmont General Hospital.

She was born Aug. 19, 1917, in Arden, Barbour County, a daughter of the late Emmit and Margaret Mitchell Winans.

Goldie was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul J. Richards, on Feb. 27, 1992, and her son, Roger Richards.

She was a homemaker and was a member of First Baptist Church of Shinnston.

Goldie is survived by her daughter, Caroline Carlot and husband David of Fairmont; son, Mark Richards and wife Tina of Shinnston; daughter, Yvonne Metcalf and husband Richard of Bridgeport; a daughter-in-law, Dian Richards of Shinnston; 10 grandchildren, Cheri Holbert and husband Steve, Melissa Ehlers and husband Loy, Kirstie Wadsworth and husband Cannon, Michael Richards and wife Laurie, Greg Richards and wife Charlotte, Eric Richards and wife Kayla, Morgan Richards, Josh Richards, Kim Taylor and husband Richard, and Amanda Dennison; 18 great-grandchildren, Emily and Bethany Richards, Cass and Corey Debolt, Michael Richards and Michelle Lanham, Trey, Brittany, Lindsey, Gannon and Peyton Satterfield, Gosh, Sigrid, Elsa and Anatoly Ehlers, Alec and Abby Wadsworth, and Brandon Richards; seven great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Junior Carl Winans and wife Agnes of Baltimore, Md.

In addition to her parents, husband and son, Goldie was preceded in death by six brothers, Charles, Homer, Colman, Delbert, Clinton and Homer Wallace Winans; and her sister, Georgia Smith.

The family would like to thank Cora Fazio and the staff of Fazio’s Eldercare for the care and support she received during the last 13 months.

Friends will be received at Harmer Funeral Home, Shinnston, from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. Pastor Kevin Nuzum will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Shinnston Masonic Cemetery.
