JP Guido II

Joseph Paul “JP” Guido II, 61, of Fairmont, passed away Wednesday (April 16, 2014) at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown after a short battle with lung cancer.

JP was born Oct. 7, 1952, son of Therése Patricia “Pat” Oles Guido and the late Dr. Joseph Paul Guido.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Elizabeth “Bunny” Leggett Guido; his son, Craig Harrison Guido and daughter-in-law Allison Quinn Guido; and his grandsons, Giovanni Quinn and Miles Benjamin Guido, all of Hanson, Mass.; and his beloved pet, Paisley.

He is also survived by his siblings, Dr. Bruce P. Guido of Ashtabula, Ohio; Gregory L. Guido of Eglon; Patricia L. Sell and Mark of Bluefield, Va.; John M. Guido and Katherine of Hurricane; Mimi Jane Leggett of Fairmont; Keith Leggett and Jeannine of Fairmont; and Rick Leggett and Marilyn of Niceville, Fla.; and his nieces and nephews, Frank Sell, Tess (Blake) Jeans, Christin Sell, Sophie (Ben) Bishop, Laura Guido, Bruce Guido, John Michael Guido, Christopher Guido, Scott Leggett and Josilyn Guido.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Joseph Paul Guido; and his in-laws, William Randall Leggett and Betty Ann Bickers Leggett.

JP went to grade school at St. Peter’s Catholic School and graduated from Fairmont Senior High in 1970. He attended Fairmont State College, majoring in history.

JP worked for FirstEnergy/Monongalia Power for more than 30 years, starting at Rivesville Power Station and finishing his career at Harrison Power Station. He loved golfing, baseball and WVU football. He was an avid homebrewer and a member of the National Homebrewers Association. He was a devoted father and grandfather, and was happiest spending time with family.

The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Chapel, 1410 Country Club Road, Fairmont, from 2-8 p.m. today and from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday. A vigil service will be held in the funeral home at 7 p.m. today. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 10 a.m. Tuesday. A committal service will follow at Bridgeport Cemetery in Bridgeport.

Sam was born on Nov. 13, 1920, in Fairmont, the son of the late Vincent and Maria (Galiano) Pellerite. He was the loving husband of the late Teresa Mae “Terry” (Cirillo) Pellerite.
