Kathleen “Katie” (Henderson) Gerard, age 89, of Grafton, went to spend her eternal life with the Lord Saturday (April 26, 2014) at Mon General Hospital.
She was born May 10, 1924, in Barbour County, a daughter of the late Bacel Calvin Henderson and Lillian Mae (Swick) Henderson. Her husband, Ross Gerard, preceded her in death in 1983.
Katie was a wife, mother and businesswoman. She was a devout Catholic and a member of the St. Augustine Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are: one son, Timothy Ross Gerard of Grafton; two daughters, Twila Dawn Reed and husband Mike of Maidsville, and Jacqueline Kay Hunt of Taylor County; six grandchildren, Ross Phillip Gerard of Charleston, S.C.; Haley Nicole Gerard of Virginia Beach, Va.; Megan Ashley Reed and fiancé Nathon Loughery of Pentress, Stephanie Michelle Reed of Maidsville, Katelyn Dawn Hunt of Morgantown and Steven Daniel Hunt of Morgantown; four great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Gerard, Nathaniel Gerard, Daniel Gerard and Jaxon Ross Gerard; two sisters, Helen Josephine McCord of Grafton, and Martha Joan Milinovich and husband Michael of Rock Cave, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by five siblings, Wanita Howell, Junior Henderson, Walter William Henderson, Emma Jean Lohr and Margaret Louise Henderson in infancy.
Friends may call at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave., Tuesday from 2–8 p.m. A Catholic funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Augustine Catholic Church, Father Jim O’Connor as celebrant. Interment will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
