He was a 1948 graduate of East Fairmont High School. He was an avid sportsman, liking to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed farming, collecting and restoring old cars, participating in IH Scouts, and attending swap meets and flea markets.

Owen was a wonderful and loving husband and father.

He is survived by two sons, Dennis Lee Shaffer of Fairmont and Douglas Lynn Shaffer of Fairmont; his grandchildren, Jared Owen and Amanda Shaffer of Fairmont and Jaimee Lynn Shaffer of Fairmont; and one great-grandson, Austin Uriah Shaffer.

Also surviving are two sisters, Pearl Perkins and Virginia Jackson; as well as several loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Howard, Clyde, Samuel and Virgil Shaffer; and two sisters, Gladys and Naomi.

Owen will be greatly missed by all his loved ones and all the friends and acquaintances he has made during his lifetime. The family would like to thank all of them for their support at this difficult time.
