Milton Eugene Durbin, 77, of Fairmont, passed away at Genesis Health Care, Fairmont Campus, Pierpont Center, on Tuesday (Jan. 22, 2013).
He was born in Fairmont on Oct. 22, 1935, a son of the late Glen H. Durbin and Louise Cumberledge Durbin.
Milton was retired from W.S. Thomas Trucking Co. of Fairmont as a dispatcher and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1958-64, seeing duty in Alaska.
He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene of Fairmont as well as the Fairmont Lions Club.
In retirement he enjoyed traveling. He especially enjoyed work and witness trips to foreign countries, helping build new churches. He also enjoyed the staff and activities at the Genesis Fairmont Campus, Wishing Well Assisted Living.
Survivors include a nephew, Robert Ice and his wife Marilyn, and a niece, Nancy Kerekes and her husband Frank, all of Benton’s Ferry; a cousin, Florence Ann Nice and her husband Dave of Kennesaw, Ga.; and several great-nieces and -nephews, Brian Kerekes and his wife Susan of Morgantown, Wendy Kerekes of Millersville Community, Jeremy Kerekes and his wife Ashley of Lexington, Ky., Carrie Kerekes of Fort Myers, Fla., and Nathan and Jason Ice of Benton’s Ferry. Great-great-nieces and -nephews include Frankie and Brianna Kerekes and Erica Merrill.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Ice, in 2002.
Friends may call at Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, from 2-8 p.m. Friday and from 10-11 a.m. Saturday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Larry Barkley officiating. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens next to his parents. The Westover Military Veterans Council will conduct military rites at graveside.
