Lorraine Hensley

Lorraine B. Hensley (Ely), 65, of Fairmont, passed away April 4, 2013, in St. Louis, Mo.

She was born Oct. 23, 1947, in Monongah, the daughter of Effie Aldine Knisely Hensley and Donald Lee Hensley Sr.

Lorraine attended Monongah High School, Class of 1965. She was baptized in the Nazarene Church in Mannington. She graduated from Monongalia Vocational Technical Center as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Lorraine concentrated her 40-plus-year nursing career in geriatrics. She was active with many charitable organizations and was beloved by friends and family for her warmth and humor.

Lorraine is survived by her two daughters, Tina Ann and her husband Timothy Fields of Morgantown, and Robin Lynn and husband Thomas Cox of St. Louis, Mo.; one sister, Nancy Hensley of St. Louis, Mo.; and one brother, James Hensley and his wife Marta of Texas.

Lorraine was preceeded in death by her parents; her husband, Darrel Allen Ely; and one brother, Donald Hensley Jr.

A remembrance service is being held Saturday, May 4, at 3 p.m. at the Central Fairmont Nazarene Church. Everyone is welcome to attend. Dress is casual. Interment will be at Enterprise I.O.O.F Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations made be made in her name to the American Heart Association.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
