Kathryn Yost

Kathryn B. Yost, 95, of Greensburg, Pa., died Saturday (April 27, 2013) in Hempfield Manor, Greensburg.

Born Aug. 6, 1917, in McWhorter, she was a daughter of the late Philander and Jessie C. Reed Hutson.

She was a graduate of West Fairmont High School. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a teller by The Bank of Wadestown in Fairview. She was a member of Ballah Methodist Church in Grant Town.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Willard Yost; a son, Thomas Bruce Yost; and a brother, Robert Jack Huston.

Surviving are three sons, Fielding Woodrow Yost and his wife Carolyn of Lothlan, Md., George Woodrow Yost and his wife Karen of Fairmont, and Robert Alan Young and his wife Ruth of Greensburg; a daughter, Gretchen Ann Haught and her husband Gary of Kingwood, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Judi Yost of Shepherdstown; a sister, Mary Brown of Georgia; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today at Beatty-Rich Funeral Home Inc., Route 136, Madison, Pa. Services and interment will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery Mausoleum, Westover, with the Rev. Jack O. Flint Sr. officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1100 Liberty Ave., Suite E-201, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
