Leanna Michael

Leanna Denise Michael, 47, of Fairmont, passed away Tuesday (April 30, 2013) at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

She was born in Fairmont on April 20, 1966, a daughter of Elsie Lee (Heiskell) Michael Cheuvront of Morgantown and the late Gerald K. Michael.

Leanna was a licensed real estate agent by trade, working for Real Estate Plus. She had also worked at Aegis and West Virginia University in facilities management. She was a graduate of Morgantown High School and OIC. She was an excellent artist and enjoyed drawing and spending time with her loving family, especially her children.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by one son, Tyler A. Michael of Morgantown; one daughter, Cherise Nicole Michael of Fairmont; and a stepson, Michael Johnson of Fairmont.

Also surviving are a brother, Jeffrey L. Michael of Mannington; her stepfather, Carl E. “Peanuts” Cheuvront of Morgantown; nieces and nephews, including Lindsey D. Michael, Nicholas Michael, Krishna Miah Michael, Savannah Michael, Gavin Michael and Mikayla N. Johnson; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gregory Michael, and her grandparents, Enos and Anna Michael and Fred and Pearl Shelton.

Family and friends may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, from 1-8 p.m. Friday and from 10-11 a.m. Saturday. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Tom Shepherd officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery in Fairmont.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
