Sallyanne Gorbey, 72, of Mannington, passed away on Monday (May 13, 2013) at her residence.
She was born Feb. 10, 1941, at Mannington, a daughter of the late William “Bill” Porter and Dollie Mae Hillberry Porter.
She is survived by her husband, Freddie W. “Bill” Gorbey, whom she married on July 8, 1967; two daughters, Teresa A. Caisse and husband David of Mascutah, Ill., and Barbara Ann Perkins and husband Woody of Mannington; step-sons, Donald Gorbey of Baxter and Robert Gorbey of Grant Town; four grandsons, David Caisse Jr. of Illinois, Paul Caisse of Virginia, Sean Caisse of Illinois and Sawyer Perkins of Mannington; several step-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Porter of Mannington, and Jack and Eva Porter of Moundsville; one sister, Barbara Michael of Mannington; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Sallyanne was preceded in death by one brother, Ray Porter, and one sister, Mary Beth Anderson.
Sallyanne was employed at Westinghouse Bucket Factory in Idamay, Mannington Beauty Salon, Dr. Thagirisa’s office in Monongah and the City of Mannington. She was active in the West Augusta Historical Society, Landmark Commission and the Order of the Eastern Star.
A special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Mon General for all of their care and support over the past two years. Also to Hospice Care for being there every time they were called.
Family and friends may call at the Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Mannington, today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday in the funeral home at 1 p.m. with Pastor David Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Whetstone Cemetery.
