Shelly Jones

Shelly May Jones, 42, of Folsom, died Monday (May 20, 2013) at her residence.

She was born Oct. 6, 1970, at Fort Benning, Ga., a daughter of Carolyn Roupe of Mohan’s Run, Mannington, and the late Harvey Wayne Roupe, who died Feb. 8, 1997.

She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Terry Jones; a daughter, Elizabeth Sue Jones, at home; three brothers, Harvey Wayne Roupe Jr. of Mohan’s Run, and Michael Roupe and Jeffery Roupe, both of Mannington; and a sister, Amanda Little of Wyatt.

She is also survived by five nieces, Kaitlin Dupont, Hailey Roupe, Lauren Roupe, Destenie Roupe and Samantha Jones; five nephews, Kayce Roupe, Austin Roupe, Jamie Jones, Justin Jones and Thomas Jones; two brothers-in-law and spouses, Larry and Roberta Jones Jr., and Jim and Crystal Jones; mother-in-law and stepfather-in-law, Patty and Butch Hayhurst; and father-in-law and stepmother-in-law, Larry and Bonnie Jones.

She was preceded in death by grandparents, Robert and Isabelle Higgins.

She was a loving wife and mother, taught Sunday School, enjoyed spending time and shopping at a mall with her daughter, Elizabeth. She enjoyed cooking and was a great cook. She enjoyed crafts and loved her nieces and nephews very much.

Friends may call at Masters Funeral Home in Mannington from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Pastor Barbara Theodoro officiating. Interment will be at Pricetown Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Michael Roupe, Larry Jones Jr., Jamie Jones, Kenny Hayhurst, Jesse Hayhurst, Joe Hayhurst, Joey Hayhurst and Jim Villers.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
