Clyde Samuel Jenkins Jr., 87, of Pleasant Valley, passed away Sunday (March 3, 2013) at the Arbors at Fairmont.
He was born Oct. 7, 1925 in Morgantown, a son of the late Clyde and Muriel Trickett Jenkins.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Howvalt Jenkins.
Clyde was a graduate of Morgantown High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked as plant engineer at Owens-Illinois in Fairmont and attended Valley Chapel United Methodist Church.
Mr. Jenkins was a former member of the square dancing group “The Y Squares,” Fairmont BPOE No. 294, VFW, Owens-Illinois Quarter Century Club and United Methodist Men. In addition, he was a former bowler and softball player and loved to play golf.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Jenkins is survived by one daughter, Lynn Usary and her husband Tom of Pleasant Valley; one daughter-in-law, Kim Chico Jenkins; four grandchildren, Colleen Usary of Fairmont, Amanda Usary-Walls and her husband J.R. of Enterprise, Michael Jenkins and his wife Ellie of Fairmont, and Leah Runion and her husband Justin of Fairmont; and two great-grandchildren, Michael Ross Jenkins and Aiden Alan Jenkins of Fairmont.
In addition to his parents, Clyde was preceded in death by his son, Mark Allen Jenkins; his four brothers, Harold Jenkins, Don Jenkins, Hugh Jenkins and Carl Jenkins; and his sister, Dorothy Arnett.
The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10-11 a.m. Thursday. The memorial service will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Andrew Tennant and the Rev. James Norton officiating.
