Charles “Bob” R. Fetty Sr., 80, of Fairmont, passed away Sunday (July 14, 2013) at Fairmont General Hospital.
He was born May 4, 1933, in Fairmont, the son of the late Marvin and Clima (Jobes) Fetty.
Bob was a graduate of Fairmont Senior High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean conflict. He was formerly employed by Barrackville mines and retired from Blacksville No. 2 mines 20 years ago. Bob enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family. Bob was a very active member of the United Mine Workers of America.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley M. Arnett, two daughters, Debbie Fetty and Diane Neely and husband Kevin, and a son, Charles “Bob” R. Fetty Jr. and wife Belinda, all of Fairmont; grandchildren, Kevin and Alissa Neelly, Deanna and TJ Anderson, Kayla Fetty and Charles “Bobby” R. Fetty III; and great-grandchild, Lindsay Neely. He was also loved by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by three brothers, Marvin Lee Fetty, George Sandford Fetty and William Fetty; a daughter, Donna J. Fetty; and a nephew, George Fetty.
Friends and family may call at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave. in Fairmont, from 2-8 p.m. today. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with Pastor Scott Krepps officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery with full military rites being performed at graveside by the Marion County Veteran’s Council.
