JoAnn Dodd

JoAnn Dodd, 71, of Fairview, passed away Tuesday (July 16, 2013) at the Arbors in Fairmont.

She was born May 1, 1942, in Fairview, the daughter of the late Wayne and Lucille (Carpenter) Parrish.

JoAnn was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Bassnettville. She was employed at C&P Telephone. Later she was a housing inspector for the Fairmont Housing Authority and retired as a director for the Fairview Senior Center.

She is survived by two sons, Keith Dodd and wife Lori of Charleston, and Hobert Dodd of Daybrook; two brothers, David Parrish and wife Beth Ann of Pinedale, Wyo., and Greg Parrish of Louisville, Ky.; three sisters, Loretta Tennant and husband Cliff of Fairview, Wanda Monell and husband John of Louisville, Ky., and Donna Hlusko of Fairview; two grandchildren, Richard and Josh Dodd, both of Charleston; special friends and caregivers, Fred and Doris Mercer; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Keith Dodd Sr.; and a brother-in-law, Jay Hlusko.

The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home, Curry Chapel, 100 Grant St. in Fairview, from 2-8 p.m. today. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home with Pastor Duane Stiles officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Fairmont.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
