Michael Rosser

FAIRMONT — Michael Ray Rosser, 45, of Fairmont, passed away Wednesday (Aug. 31, 2011) in Fairmont.

He was born in Fairmont on Jan. 30, 1966, a son of the late Charles Eugene and Jessie (Bowman) Rosser.

Michael courageously battled cancer and hypoklemia for more than nine years. He was a loving husband, a good, kind man, and a hero to all his children and grandchildren.

Michael served his country with the U.S. Army. He was retired from AFG Industries in Harrison County, where he worked in the main line production utility department. He was a graduate of East Fairmont High School and of Fairmont State College with a degree in sociology and a minor in history.

He was an active member of the Baptist Temple. Mike was an artist and storyteller. He enjoyed comic books, music, history, nature, grilling steaks and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

He is survived by his loving wife, soul mate and best friend of 17 years, Anita (Kellar) Rosser; three sons, Daniel Starsick of Fairmont, Dustin Starsick of Morgantown and Anthony Rosser of Fairmont; three daughters, Ashley Henderson and her husband Larry of Fairmont, Bethany Rosser of Rachel and Jessica Rosser of Morgantown; and two special grandchildren, Derek Henderson, “his birthday buddy,” and Isaiah Henderson.

Also surviving are a brother, Fred Rosser and his wife Tammy of Fairmont; a sister, Virginia Dusenberry and her husband Dave of Morgantown; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Vicki and Jim Johnson, Craig and Beth Kellar, J.C. Kellar and Jennifer Sharp, Lisa Kellar and Rebecca Rosser; a special niece, Kasey Burke; Brian Kellar of Pittsburgh, Robert and Nancy Kellar of Canton, Ohio, Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Kellar of Clarksburg, and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Kellar of Detroit, Mich.; and several other loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Melvin Rosser.

Family and friends may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with Dr. Holley Faulkner officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
