Robert Lee “Bob” Garlow, 82, of Pleasant Valley, Fairmont, passed away Sunday (Dec. 1, 2013) at his home.
He was born in Fairmont on Feb. 7, 1931, a son of the late B. Frank and Edna Marie (Vanmeter) Garlow.
Bob proudly served his country with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was retired from Owens-Illinois Glass Plant with 30 years of service and also from Fairmont General Hospital with 17 years of service. He was Methodist by faith. He was a 1950 graduate of East Fairmont High School. He enjoyed hunting and camping with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Sylvia P. (Isner) Garlow of Pleasant Valley; a son, Arthur “Art” Garlow and his wife Dana of Fairmont; and his grandson, A. Brian Garlow II of Fairmont.
Also surviving is his former daughter-in-law, Lisa (Schell) Garlow of Rivesville; three step-grandchildren, Josh M. Clarke, Lauren H. Talbert and her husband Ryan, and Karena S. Clarke, all of Fairmont; and a step-great-grandchild, Killian Talbert.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Willa E. (Kann) Garlow; and a sister, Lillian Phares.
In keeping with the wishes of the deceased, his body will be cremated and private family services will take place at a later date.
