Ivah Haught

Ivah Mae (Bickerstaff) Haught, 88, of Fairmont, passed away peacefully Tuesday (July 1, 2014) at the Arbors at Fairmont.

She was born in Fairmont, on Oct. 17, 1925, a daughter of the late Martin V. and Lula Hazel (Tennant) Bickerstaff.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, James Francis Haught, in February 2000. The couple married on July 2, 1943.

Ivah was retired from Monongahela Power Co., where she worked as a clerical secretary with 35 years of service. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was a graduate of East Fairmont High School. She was a member of Gateway United Methodist Church, Beverly Homemakers Association and the Red Hats. She enjoyed volunteering her time at Fairmont General Hospital. She also enjoyed square dancing with her husband in her younger years, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing cards with her family and traveling.

She is survived by three daughters, Regina Myers and her husband Donnie of Fairmont, Janet Glover of Fishers, Indiana, and Barbara Renee Basagic of Lutz, Florida; nine grandchildren, Buddy Boyers and his wife Stephanie, Susan Wadsworth and her husband Shawn, Terri Strand and her husband Donnie, Jeffrey Boyers, Donnie Myers III, all of Fairmont, Tammy Carmichael of Indiana, Sherry Gutch and her husband Doug, Bryan Glover and Diadre Collins, all of Florida; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers, John Bickerstaff and his wife Arita of Oklahoma, and Tom Bickerstaff and his wife Nancy of Fairmont; and one sister, Pat Law of Fairmont.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles Bickerstaff, Dick Bickerstaff, Martin Bickerstaff and Roger Bickerstaff; one sister, Virginia Stalnaker; and a son-in-law, John Rodney Basagic.

Family and friends may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, from 1-8 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 1 p.m. Thursday with Pastor Rich Buonaiuto officiating. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover.
