Dovie Pettigrew

Dovie Mae (Hostutler) Pettigrew, 78, of Fairmont, passed away Thursday (March 21, 2013) at Heartland of Clarksburg.

She was born in Fairmont on June 30, 1934, the daughter of the late Myrtle Dove Davis and Henry Sturge Hostutler.

Dovie is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Richard Pettigrew. Also surviving are her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joan and Jimmy Watson of Pennsylvania, and several nieces and nephews.

She graduated from East Fairmont High School. Dovie had worked for Jones Department Store and later Langs Department Store. She enjoyed feeding the birds and especially loved her cats.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters and their husbands, Mary Alice and Forest Ridenour, Gwendolyn and John Miller, Anna Jo and Wayne Shackleford, and Peggy and James Hill; and a nephew, Sean Hill.

In keeping with the wishes of the deceased, her body was donated to the Human Gift Registry at West Virginia University.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Heartland of Clarksburg, 100 Parkway Drive, Clarksburg.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
