Eunice Ruth Swisher, 81, of Fairmont, went to be with the Lord on Thursday (May 9, 2013) in the Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation Center in Salem.
Ruth was born May 8, 1932, in Rivesville, a daughter of the late Samuel and Genevieve King Reynolds. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul William Swisher, in November 1980.
Ruth was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her love for God, strong work ethic and devotion to her family was a shining example for her family to follow.
Ruth was a dedicated employee of Fairmont General Hospital for 20 years, retiring in 1994. She was a lady of faith who attended Rivesville Free Methodist Church prior to falling victim to Alzheimer’s in 2009.
Ruth is survived by three sons, Paul Michael Swisher and girlfriend Belinda Hershman of Fairmont, Robert Shutty and his wife Gerri of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Joseph Shutty and his wife Marie of Cheyenne, Wyo.; three daughters, Debra Nickles and her husband Deryl of Wenatchee, Wash., Paula Pulice and her husband Sam of Summerville, S.C., and Tina Lake and her husband Michael of Peachtree City, Ga.; grandchildren include Mike, Billy and Jessica Swisher of Fairmont, Matthew, Paul and Joseph Shutty of Cheyenne, Wyo., Shawn Nickles of Wenatchee, Wash., Anna, Jeremiah, Robert and Genevieve Shutty of Kalamazoo, Mich., Samantha Pulice of Summerville, S.C., Jack Lake of Morgantown and Austin Lake of Peachtree City, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Ethan Swisher of Fairmont, and Sadie and Shania Nickles of Wenatchee, Wash.; brothers, Pete Reynolds of Belfry, Ohio, and Phillip and his wife Beverly Reynolds, and Harley and his wife Effie Mae Reynolds, both from Sheboygan, Wis.; sister, Marcella and her husband David Radcliffe of Lexington, Ky.; sisters-in-law, Jo Ann Tomey, Hazel Runner and Diane Reynolds, all of Fairmont; brother-in-law, James Swisher of Fairmont; and several nieces and nephews.
Ruth was preceded in death by brothers, Samuel Jerry Reynolds and John Reynolds; and sisters, Mary Toothman, Marie Prince and Mabel “Dukie” Corwin.
The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Chapel, 1410 Country Club Road, Fairmont, from 10-11 a.m. Monday. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Stanley Merrifield officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, Fairmont, where Ruth will be laid to rest beside her husband.
