Leona Croston

Leona Alberta Croston, 81, of Rivesville, passed away Tuesday (June 20, 2006) at The Arbors at Fairmont Nursing Home.

She was born in Fairmont on May 2, 1925. a daughter of the late Clarence Eber and Ida Mae Benson Wilson.

Leona was Protestant by faith. She was a homemaker and had formerly worked at G.C. Murphy’s and Owens-Illinois Glass Plant. She enjoyed crocheting and reading and although, mostly out of necessity, she enjoyed gardening and canning.

Mrs. Croston is survived by five sons and four daughters-in-law, Jack and Crystal Croston of Capon Bridge, Rusty Croston of Winchester, Va., Mitchell and Rhonda Croston of Gatlenburg, Va., Alan and Debbie Croston of Mannington and Clarence and Rita Croston of Los Cruses, N.M.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Perkins of Rivesville, Alberta and Stanley Shuman of McCurdysville and Joyce and Rick Everly of Bandera, Texas; one brother, Clarence E. Wilson of Morgantown; 26 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and one daughter-in-law, Dixie Croston Hunt of Grafton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Edward Croston on May 25, 1990; three sons,Leroy, Frank (KC) and Steven Croston; one daughter, Cindy Croston; one brother, Wendell A. Wilson; one sister, Peggy Leeson; and one son-in-law, Charles Perkins.

Friends may call at the Frey Home For Funerals (Addition Chapel), 320 Madison St., Fairmont, Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.. Services will be held in the funeral home Friday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Ken Wright officiating. Interment will follow at the McCurdysville cemetery.
